Sharing Links Is the New Social Craze Get in on It

Have you shared links lately. Shared links are the best way to show your friends just what you like on the internet. What better way to get to know people than to see exactly what they look at? You can see general likes and interests in people’s profiles, sure, but that is often too broad. When you see the links and pictures that people are sharing on a daily basis, then you have a true insight into their internet preferences.

  • Link Bookmarks
  • Before the fad of social bookmarking, people shared links by bookmarking the site for themselves, and then simply copy-and-pasting the URL into an email. Or, better yet, pasting the link into an Instant Message. Remember those? Or you would have to take the time to write down the entire URL on a slip of paper and share it that way. I remember that is how we did it in middle school, when computers had just come out. But, the times have changed, technology has evolved, and there is a better way.

  • FB Share Link
  • Whether it is to a website, or to a YouTube video, Facebook makes sharing links simple and fun. When you paste the URL into your status box, it takes the URL and translates it into a clickable link, complete with preview picture and helpful, descriptive text. When the link is then posted, your friends get to see the link, and what it actually is. It is not just a garbled text of URL code that no one wants to click for fear of it being offensive or useless.

  • Pinterest Share Link
  • Pinterest is the other pro of sharing links. But instead of having a place for you or your friends to comment, it is strictly for sharing the pictures. Those friends who follow you on Pinterest can click on the bookmark picture that you pinned, which will then send them to the source and more information. But the bulk of the site is just the collections of pictures on a variety of themed boards. Silently sharing.

Social media progresses and evolves, whether we stay on top of it or not. Spare yourself the embarrassment of being out of the loop by looking into social bookmarking. By sharing links and bookmarks with all of your friends, you can share with them how you really are, and you get to see their true likes too.
